Author Profile
Amadeo Lopez - Sports Editor
I was born in Monterrey, Mexico on December 23, 1988. When I was 14 years old my parents decided it was time to move to Mesquite, Texas so I could get a better education, learn English and attend an American college.
In 2006, I graduated from Mesquite High School, where I learned how to succeed and adopted a new language. I met a lot of good friends, I had the best teachers ever, and I had the opportunity to study advanced Spanish literature. High school is also where I started working with the yearbook and the newspaper by writing stories about the National Hispanic Honor Society.
The only thing I want to do is journalism; since I was young I knew it is my life. Thanks to The EtCetera I’ve experienced how it feels to be responsible for informing the readers. Each story is a new adventure, with different protagonists and settings.
Writing for me is like my religion. I’ve done art since I was eight; I still paint and draw as a hobby. I enjoy a lot reading literature from different places around the world, otherwise I love sci-fi and horror books. I admire journalist Jorge Ramos. After Eastfield I will probably move to UTA to continue my major in journalism. I’m going to be a TV reporter, and I will write for the newspaper.
My personal quote is “Se habla espanol” because being bilingual has influenced and changed my life, and it opened me a lot of doors and opportunities.
